Mediterranean
Casinos

Introduction

Our client is one of the world’s largest integrated resort operators, owner and developer of casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities around the globe.

Following a successful tender, Cinos were selected to design and commission a range of audio-visual systems for six new satellite casinos across the Mediterranean.

The Requirement – multi room audio distribution

The main requirement across all sites was focused on audio distribution. Each site would be split into zones, whether that be separate slot areas, restaurants, or tables. Cinos had to deliver a system that provided user control of the entire audio distribution across all sites and their respective zones, simultaneously. This ranges from background music to scheduled announcements or providing full microphone control at any given point.

Due to the smaller nature of the satellite sites, dedicated audio-visual experts were not employed and therefore the systems had to operate with the absolute minimum of user intervention and training. Each site was equipped with a media player, linked to a commercial streaming service, with the audio distribution centrally controlled from a web interface.

The Solution

To cater for each audio scenario, Cinos installed a configurable digital sound processor (DSP) from Biamp at each of the six sites. Selected for its flexibility, the Biamp DSP distributes audio to all zones at each site, in any desired configuration. Furthermore, the system is adaptable to new business requirements, as such was the case at one of the sites where the initial requirement of two zones became ten as the project progressed. Biamp’s flexibility ensured Cinos could offer a cost-effective and scalable solution.

Cinos have delivered a first-class audio distribution system, integrated across six casinos in the Mediterranean. Not only have our team designed an intuitive system, requiring minimal user training, they have delivered a scalable solution capable of adapting to new business requirements.

With existing access to a huge library of music, it was important to our client that the new satellite sites were also able to harness the commercial streaming service currently in use. Through a web interface, Cinos enabled operators to have full control of audio distribution across all sites, enabling them to push music to any or all zones from anywhere in the world. For situations where staff do not have access to the web interface, Cinos installed volume control units in each zone, allowing staff to simply enter a passcode and adjust the volume for that respective area.

Music and announcement system

As part of the audio deployment, the client also required an easy-to-use system to cater for scheduled announcements, such as updating customer on the latest offers. At each site Cinos installed and connected a media player to the Biamp DSP. This meant announcements could be set up through a user-friendly, cloud hosted scheduling engine and when played, the background music automatically mutes so the announcement can be heard.

The final audio requirement focussed on delivering live announcements via dedicated microphones in each zone. To ensure ease-of-use, Cinos programmed the system to mute all other audio when the push-to-talk button was pressed. This enables the message to be delivered clearly and avoiding any technology frustrations users may face when attempting to switch audio sources.

Elsewhere in the casinos, the client required a mixture of screens and kiosks to be installed to cater for their digital signage requirements. Working with digital signage provider, Fourwinds, Cinos installed these displays across 4 locations, including several 2×2 video wall configurations. Each display is linked to the Fourwinds media player, enabling targeted messaging to be delivered to their respective zones.
