We are extremely proud to announce that Cinos has been recognised as an accredited Living Wage employer.
Our latest accreditation sees Cinos join over 7,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to pay the real Living Wage to their staff and regular contractors.
What is the real Living Wage?
Created in 2011 by the Living Wage Foundation, the real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate based on living costs. It is an hourly rate that is calculated annually by the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage Commission, based on the best available evidence about living standards in London and the UK.
In April 2016, inspired by the Living Wage campaign, the government introduced a higher minimum wage for all staff over 25 years old. Known as the ‘National Living Wage’ this rate is based on a target to reach 66% of median earnings by 2024. In 2021, this was adjusted to include those over 23 years old but is not calculated according to what employees and their families need to live.
The real Living Wage rates are higher because they are independently calculated based on a basket of household goods and services that people require to get by. This year, the hourly rate for the real Living Wage is set at £9.50 across the UK and £10.85 in London. Furthermore, anyone above the age of 18 qualifies for it – in recognition that young people face the same living costs as everyone else.
We are delighted that Cinos has become an accredited Living Wage employer. Cinos has always had an underlying commitment to deliver excellence in everything we do. Investing in our people is a key part of this commitment. We want to attract the best talent and by paying a wage that people can live on demonstrates the value we place in our workforce. | ||
